I have several local users on my Mac — one personal, another is for work, and homebrew. The latter was showing up on the login screen, which was inconvenient. It can be hidden easily with: sudo dscl . create /Users/homebrew IsHidden 1 and to show it back: sudo dscl . create /Users/homebrew IsHidden 0
